| I have successfully completed the last first day. It's so weird being the oldest. Never before, for instance, have I ever been in even the older half of acateam. And don't get me started on the somehow shocking lack of older people in the drama department. AP English Lit & Comp (Merrill): Good class, lots of people I know. I was told to try and get Merrill later in the day, but whatever. She's hilarious already. AP Computer Science A (Hamond): He tried to show us the basics of prograing. Or something. Maybe he'll be less flustered tomorrow. AP Latin Vergil (White): Independent study no. 1. As Mrs. Wallace is not teaching Latin this year, I had to explain how independent study works. I'm still not entirely sure she gets it. She's nice, though. And she was my dad's high school Latin teacher. So that's something. She also gives students tiny cards with declensions on one side and conjugations on the other. Which is pretty freaking sweet, if you ask me. AP Calculus BC (Hammond again): It's AB/BC mixed, which should prove interesting, to say the least. And it's a HUGE class. And we already got our books. Acting II (Harrington): There are only three people in this class from last year. And I've never seen the majority of the class in any of the plays before. I'm just hoping that they're in the class for the art and not for an easy A. And I'm worried this class won't be as close as my previous acting classes. I've never been so apprehensive about draa class before... Chorale (Morris): He went through the class and asked each person his or her voice (first or second soprano, alto, tenor, or bass). He called my name, to which I replied, "Alto!" He looked confused and asked if I was sure, to which I confusedly replied that I had started last year as a second, but that it was he who plopped me in the alto section in the first place. Weird. AP Governent (Drover): Independent study no. 2. You'd think that teachers would be familiar with the concept of independent study, but apparently not, as I had to explain it for the second time today. A soon as he understood, though, he proceeded to be super-cool. That was not nearly as eloquent as I hoped it would be. However, I'm not such a very eloquent person, so that's okay. Hopefully I'll actually make it to the last last day. | | |

| A Story Boy takes Girl on date. Girl subsequently begins liking boy because she's weird like that (and has an uncanny knack for predicting her own romantic tendencies). Girl fails at signals (both the sending and receiving thereof) and so settles for her typical friendship/making-fun-of-Boy strategy. She rationalizes this by deciding that if anything happened, it would ruin their friendship and/or the team dynamic. Girl and Boy don't see each other very often for quite a while, leading to Girl's getting over boy. Girl additionally gets closure by remembering that it was just limerence, they're better off just being friends, and he never liked her anyway. Girl is extremely happy with herself. Girl finds out weeks after this closure that Boy liked her during that time period after all and that, somewhere, there's concrete evidence to prove it. Well, that's annoying. | | |
| Hey, look, I'm back! I kindasortaREALLY ignored this thing this past year, but I kind of want to keep a record of stuff or whatever. Anyway, stuff that heppened this year, categorized for your convenience: Academics - First time to personally win anything in acateamness (seventh this season and first at district, thank you very much -- although I didn't deserve that one; they did the counting-points-rather-than-calculating-percentage thing again)
- Last time to take either the SAT or the ACT (thank goodness for madd testing skillz)
- Became one of six National Merit quarter finalists at our school (and all of us girls to boot)
- Was named next year's acateam captain (thus officially making Wade Tenille)
- Voted second vice president of state JCL (a race I never really planned on entering in the first place)
- Other stuff, I'm sure
Love Life (Or Lack Thereof) - First date, complete with first slow dance (during which, being me, I tripped and would have hit the ground if I hadn't hit my date first)
- First TOTALLY unwelcome, bizarre, um, crusher? Me being the crushee. Barely know him. He answered the phone high one time when a friend called him to set us up. Good times.
- Was called beautiful by two guys who aren't related to me (one being the aforementioned unwelcome...person, the other being someone I know simply meant it as a platonic compliment)
- Received flowers from three different guys who aren't my dad (date corsage -- expected; Valentine carnation -- rather good semi-prank, really: he asked me what Celia had second hour, asked Celia what Phoebe had second hour, and asked Phoebe what I had second hour so we'd all think he was sending it to one of the other two; birthday flowers that looked like phoenix feathers). I don't even really like flowers all that much, but the gesture is always appreciated.
- Other stuff, I'm sure
Theatre Stuff - First superlative nomination and win (Most Talented Girl, thankyouverymuch)
- First time not to get a callback audition (the day I was nominated for said superlative, no less)
- First time to do "Creeps" -- but only the improv
- First time to be in Senior Showcase (in two scenes!)
- Other stuff, I'm sure
I'm probably forgetting the vast majority of the year, but whatever. Good times. | | |
| So school is going pretty well. I've started thoughts of the day again this year. Woot. And now some random comments about school and other related things. Ms. Culp hated me and Wade from the first day because we had out own opinions (which differed from hers) and were able to defend them. But ever since she found out we're on acateam, she's been treating us a lot better. Hmm... Could there be a correlation? Speaking of acateam, tryouts start tomorrow. Except half the current team (plus some prospective players) won't be there because there's an after-school band practice scheduled. I just think Easter and Metzer should fight to the death. AP bio is pretty much awesome. And entertaining. Apparently, the reason I've never been kissed is that I'm aposematically colored. It's true. I'm a redhead, so everyone knows I taste bad. Auditions for Rocket Man are on Saturday. I'm excited! Also, Company Showcase is Wednesday at... 6:00? I think? Anyway, whoever might still happen to read this should come (if said people actually live here). I'm doing a dramatic monologue (GASP!) from Streetcar. I hung out with Suzanna all day. We spent forever looking all over the place for a thrift store that was open on Labor Day. We finally found one. Yea. The we met up with Emily and Zach to eat food in the park and then go see Stardust. I like it. I want a Trist(r)an. And now I'ma finish the book. Except I have homework first... | | |
